We're pleased to announce that The 808 Ranch has leased the Adams family's beautiful property on the Cowskin Prairie in McDonald County, Missouri, and acquired the Adams Cattle Company's 400+ head of Angus cattle.
"The family and crew at The 808 are excited to carry on the Adams family's commitment to the land and livestock. Our friendship dates to the 1970s when both families milked Jersey cows and grew up together in 4-H youth activities." - Lamar Steiger
This partnership represents more than a business transaction. It's the continuation of a multi-generational relationship built on shared values and mutual respect.
After the Adams family sold their Benton County property in the early 2000s to purchase land in McDonald County, we remained close friends.
Years later, when we established The 808 Ranch on the Elk, we found ourselves just five miles from our longtime friends.
Now, we have the privilege of continuing the Adams family's tradition of stewarding the land and livestock. Their commitment to sustainable ranching practices and quality cattle aligns perfectly with our values at The 808.
We're excited to build on this foundation with the same dedication and integrity that defined it from the start.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 808 Ranch Expands Operations with Adams Cattle Company Deal
Continued expansion supports the ranch’s renowned Precision Genetics program
PEA RIDGE, Ark. (December 4, 2025) — The 808 Ranch of Anderson, Missouri, has announced a major expansion of its nationally recognized Precision Genetics Angus program through a new lease agreement with neighboring Adams Cattle Company.
Under the agreement, The 808 Ranch will acquire more than 400 head of Angus cattle and manage 1,752 acres on the Cowskin Prairie, located north of Southwest City, Missouri, between State Highway 43 and Stateline Road. The property lies about five miles south of The 808 Ranch on the Elk, which was established five years ago.
This expansion will be called The 808 Ranch on the Prairie and follows the April 2025 announcement of The 808 Ranch at the Ridge, a 1,000-acre operation near Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Together, the recent Missouri and Arkansas additions strengthen The 808 Ranch’s ability to meet growing national demand for high-quality Angus beef.
“This is not the end of an era for the Adams family, but the start of a new era with our close friends, the Steigers,” said Eve Adams, owner and trustee of the Adams Cattle Company.
“While just five miles away from the Steigers' ranch, our families and our love of the land have grown up together since the early 70’s. To know our land will continue in the hands of such great stewards brings us great joy.”
In addition to the acquisition, Carl Steiger has been named General Manager of The 808 Ranch. His responsibilities will include oversight of all three of The 808 locations, including operations, land management, and livestock care. Chace Jamison will continue in his role of Cattle and Genetics Manager, where he will continue to build the herd and advance the Precision Genetics program.
“The family and crew at The 808 are thankful and excited to carry on the Adams’ family commitment to the land and livestock. Our friendship dates to the 1970s when both families milked Jersey cows and grew up together in 4H youth activities,” said Lamar Steiger, owner of The 808 Ranch.
